Ten years after her remarkable TEDxPerth talk about Hulbert Street, Shani will share how her mission to develop a more resilient community grew and moved from a street in Fremantle to an entire suburb.
Jahna Cedar
First Nations Community Leader & Business Woman
Jahna will share how, as a Nyiyaparli/Yindijbarndi woman from the Pilbara region, she navigates two worlds with differing practices and responsibilities.
She believes that to progress reconciliation, a more widespread understanding of this code switching is needed, and her talk will help listeners develop their understanding. Jahna is Executive Director at IPS Management Consultants.
Dr. Nerida Wilson
WA Museum Marine & Molecular Biologist
Sea dragons have unique faces, and this allows each sea dragon to be identified. Using technology similar to facial recognition, scientists such as Dr. Wilson can now study many more sea dragons, getting a much more complete understanding of their behaviours, and in a much less intrusive way.
Len Collard
Nyungar Elder & WA Local Hero Nominee
Len Collard is a Whadjuk Nyungar elder with a background in literature and Aboriginal studies including Nyungar interpretive histories. He will give an insight into the shared history of Indigenous and colonialist Western Australia - and how that is reflected in our place names.

Outback Astronomer
Greg AKA "Space Gandalf" will lead the audience on a journey that will give a cosmic perspective that makes all other issues seem small. Greg is an astronomer.
Jarrad Seng
Photographer
Jarrad shares how a personal philosophy, one of "seeking discomfort", can help achieve the most amazing results. He is a photographer, has featured on reality TV show Survivor and works with National Geographic, Miss Universe Australia, Adobe and tourism boards around the world. .

Andrew will share how he began to support his elderly mother and became more aware of her needs and wants - and how this changed his views on aged care in Australia. Andrew is an anaesthetist, columnist, and former President of AMA (WA).

Lauren shares how she uses photography as a tool to empower women, heal the wounds of personal and challenge patriarchy. Lauren is a prominent Perth photographer.
Susie Delaporte
Community Coordinator
Susie has a background working in disability support, homelessness, domestic violence and foster care. That’s all alongside her day job as Senior Community Engagement Officer at Shire of Donnybrook-Balingup, where she has led the community response to recent bushfires.
Susie will share how her mission to improve accessibility for young drivers facing a variety of barriers led to fewer young people jailed for driving offences, fewer deaths on WA roads, and greater opportunities for community engagement.
Peter Holmes à Court

As a child of influential parents, success should have been a foregone conclusion for the eldest son of Robert and Janet Holmes à Court. Despite a distinguished and successful career as a theatre producer, entrepreneur, rugby league club owner and Sydney city advocate, things didn’t quite work out how he thought.
After many years out of the spotlight, Peter returns to his hometown to deliver his first-ever TEDx talk.
Sandor Mulsow
Professor of Marine Geology
The deep-sea floor is home to unknown quantities of minerals, including rare earth’s essential to renewable energy technology. But what are the ecological and other impacts of undersea mining, and who is responsible for protecting it?
Sandor has been a UN Scientist for over 20 years, primarily with the International Atomic Energy Agency and is also a Professor of Marine Geology at the Universidad Austral de Chile. Most recently, he has been involved in the documentary ‘Deep Rising’ with Aquaman star Jason Momoa.
Rachel Claudio

Rachel Claudio is an internationally famous singer-songwriter, musical artist and DJ from Perth, WA. Her 2017 TEDxPerth talk, ‘How to translate the feeling into sound’ has since clocked up over 2.5 million global views, making it one of TEDxPerth’s biggest-ever talks.
Claudio returns in 2023 to surprise and delight audiences yet again to help us discover how to create space for peak creativity.

Meet Chris Taylor
We are thrilled to announce that TEDxPerth 2023 will be hosted by guest MC, Chris Taylor!
Chris is a writer, performer and broadcaster who is best known as a member of ABC's The Chaser team and is responsible for television shows such as CNNNN and The Chaser's War on Everything, as well as numerous award-winning election specials.
More recently, he was the creator, co-writer and producer of the critically acclaimed Foxtel/Binge drama Upright, starring Tim Minchin.
